[jira] [Commented] (THRIFT-5113) Web-based developer and user chat?

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/THRIFT-5113?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17049091#comment-17049091 ]

Mario Emmenlauer commented on THRIFT-5113:
------------------------------------------

Just as a small motivation for an open developer chat: Right now I'm blocked with my PR's because Travis CI is having a lot of issues. I'd like to inquire if someone is working on these issues, and/or what I could do to help. I have a bit of spare time right now. But I don't want to duplicate work, and I would need a bit of feedback who did what already. I think neither Jira nor the mailing list have sufficiently short turnaround times for this kind of question: what can I contribute *right now*?

> I think it would be very helpful if there where a developer chat, where users and developers could ask questions and get (sometimes) a response with shorter turnaround times and less overhead. Is this something thrift developers could consider?
> An often-used web-based chat with little overhead that integrates well with github is [https://gitter.im/]. There are already a significant number of Apache projects present:
