I had been planning on making my pet server XML-configured but hadn't
written any of the plans down until now. Preliminary stuff (quick
brain dump) in http://www.w3.org/1999/07/9-http-server-conf.html
There were a few folks who were kicking this around a while ago. I'll
try to aggregate these efforts.

XML server status ?
Posted by tser <te...@worldonline.nl>.
Hi,
How about reporting The Server Status in XML ?
That way, somebody could easely create a customized page, where he
tracks the status of many servers.
And, they who don't like the look of mod-status, could easely change
their stylesheets, to their Look.
if somebody things this is usefull, i will try to make it.
My 2 XML$ words.
regards,
Reinder Kraaij

Oops - sorry. I originally intended to run it past some internal
review and set the ACLs accordingly. It's world-readable now.

I remember seen people wondering about XML extensibility, for example
in the case of modules shipped outside of the apache distribution. I suggest
using the namespace mechanism, basically by defining a default namespace
of all tags used for the configuration of the apache as distributed
and have external modules use their own namespace to avoid clash and
conflicts when plugging-in new modules. I guess it makes a very flexible
mechanism, without complicating the standard setup. Maybe Eric can provide
an example, he is more aware of the Apache setup options than me :-)
my 2 XML cents,
Daniel
