I do not think your assessment is correct because:
a) messages from myself (directly) usually receive scores between +1 and -4
b) messages from the mailing list in question (not sent by me) usually score
between +3 and -2
c) if it was "AwlWrongWay" the magnitude of the adjustment would be some
fraction of the difference between the past average and current score. this
would place the AWL average well above my 4.5 apam cutoff. it isn't.
d) the text "AWL: From: address is in the auto white-list" is atypical of AWL
messages i normally see.

You can see what AWL thinks is going on by sending your sample message through
spamassassin with the -t and -D options

 spamassassin -t -D < mybadawltest.txt

and look for the lines that have "dbg: auto_whitelist:" in them. That will tell
you what From and ip address AWL was looking for and the exact file that it is
using for the AWL database. Then you can use the utility that comes with
SpamAssassin in the tools directory, tools/check_whitelist, to dump the AWL
database file in a human-readable format and see just what your history is with
that From and ip address combination.

Do you have SpamAssassin set up to automatically delete spam that is higher than
some particular score so that you might not be seeing very high scoring spam
that is from your email address? Or, more likely, since AWL uses ip address and
this mail is from your real sending address, have you sent test GTUBE spam to
yourself which would throw off the average in the AWL?
