New XML:DB Driver (SSL)

I have created a new XML:DB driver (xindice-ssl) that implements SSL (using the Sun JSSE package). It has been tested with the command line tools and small app that I built to test all of the drivers. Should I commit the driver to the scratchpad? Head? Wait? I basically copied the existing XML:DB driver (xml-rpc) and made the necessary changes to use "https" and use an internal trust manager (not sure about doing this, but it makes getting up and running a snap). This introduces the need for the JSSE package to be installed in order to compile. The SSL code is compiled with the JDK 1.3 variety (never got a reply from my previous post re: target JDK). Kurt

I'd love to have a look at it, I think scratchpad would be fine for now,
but I'd love to have it as the default driver once we have basic
authentication in place.

Would it be possible to have both implementations running? I.e. merge
the two drivers in order to be able to use both http and httpd depending
on the URL being requested?

Ciao,

:-)

Avalon has also an Instrumentation system. You set instrumentation
points to collect values in your code, and there is a GUI app that shows
the values also in charts, so you can see what is happening *inside* the
system. We have it working in Cocoon now, it's quite straightforward.

Performance Profiling

I have set up some tests in JMeter for profiling access via direct XML-RPC calls. I hope to have some time in the next few days to write a new sampler
for JMeter in order to do the same for the XML:DB drivers (unless someone already has one out there...). I will publish the results when I have them compiled.
