Deserializer/Serializer for arbitrary java classes

Hi all,

I'm writing a Webservice where I need besides the comfortable
BeanSerializer,
 a custom Serializer/Deserializer for arbitrary java classes. The
Problem
 is that I don't understand the sources of the
org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanSerializer,
 so I'm not able to write a custom Serializer. Can anyone explain the
first steps to write 
 a custom Serializer/Deserializer? I mean what functions I need to
override and what is the effect?
