Deltacloud (Outreach Program for Women 2013) questions

Hi,

My name is Anika and I am interested in participating in the Gnome Outreach
Program for 2013 through Deltacloud. I am specifically interested in the
"Improving Deltacloud web site" project, and perhaps also in the
"Deltacloud demo apps" project. Could you let me know how I could get
started and what sort of contributions I can make before I can apply?

Thanks,
Anika

Hi Anika,

thanks a lot for your interest in Deltacloud. To expand on what Marios
said, I just added links to our bug tracker and to the README for
writing tests in the Projects section of our OPW page[1] - a
contribution in either of these areas would be great as the required
small contribution for your application.

Don't hesitate to ask questions about what the contribution could/should
be either on our IRC channel or on this list here.

all the best,
David

Or, even simpler, in the git checkout in clients/cimi/ is a web
application that talks to our CIMI frontend and gives people a simple
way to explore the CIMI API with their web browser.

That app right now makes a lot of assumptions about how the CIMI API
builds its URL's - it needs to be changed to get URL's from server
responses rather than constructing URL's themselves. (I know that's a
lot to take in, but I'd be more htan happy to dig up a few examples of
what's going on and what needs to be changed)

Hi Anika,

First thanks for your interest of choosing Deltacloud!

The 'Improving Deltacloud web site' project is long term project focused on
improving the navigation, user-experience and content of our web site
(deltacloud.apache.org). We want to provider more detailed informations to
potential Deltacloud users and contributors like examples or tutorials.
Also we want to improve navigation and update informations about API
documentation. Another possibility will be to improve the overall graphical
design of the website (colors, fonts, more diagrams, etc..)

The 'Deltacloud demo apps' project is aimed to provide a set of real world
applications that use Deltacloud for something :-)
For example an application that deploy a Wordpress to different clouds using
the Deltacloud API, or application that generate usage reports for different
clouds or a demo of live migration from one provider to another, etc...

Cheers,
  Michal
