Having multiple metastore instances is recommended for rolling upgrade. This ensures that there is at least one metastore that is up and running during the RU process and reduces the chances of failure.

Multiple Hive Metastore instances are recommended for Rolling Upgrade. This ensures that there is at least one Metastore running during the upgrade process.
