About the sizes, actually nowadays is a good practice to set the width/height of images to avoid layout shifts. You can read more about CLS here: [https://web.dev/cls/] and here: https://web.dev/optimize-cls/#modern-best-practice
The image can still be adjusted automatically with CSS. In our doc I already set the rules to avoid images larger than available space, etc.
