Scoping of proeprties

Hi,

Is there any document about property scoping anywhere? What I want to do is
set some properties in my maven.xml and have them available in the xdocs
plugin but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

None of the following seem to work;

<j:set var="maven.ui.body.background" value="#123456" />
<j:set var="maven.ui.body.background" value="#123456" scope="parent"/>
${pom.getContext().setProperty('maven.ui.body.background','#123456')}

So anyone wanna tell me what I should be doing? Or maybe just tell me RTFM
while pointing me at the docs? :)

This all relates to John Caseys MAVEN-294 which I haven't fixed in HEAD
because there are some deeper issues to fix. There is definitely a
disconnect between the way Jelly sets values and the way Ant does.
That's the first problem. The second problem is the somewhat willy nilly
propagation of values from the various sources of values. The first
issue I'm tackling is MAVEN-294 which leads to a general cleanup of how
property values are dealt with.

My overall goal in fixing this issue is to remove Jelly semantics from
the core Maven model, where Jelly will become a way to access the model
and Jelly tags will simply be tools that manipulate the model for
whatever purpose but Jelly will no longer be at the core of Maven. It
will effectively become another view. This is why I haven't applied any
patches for MAVEN-294 because I would actually like property value
setting and propagation to be simple and deterministic. I'm working on
this today and when it's done I should be able to answer your questions
on scoping and evaluation in a couple sentences. I don't think you want
the current explanation :-)
