[Issue 128564] New: More than 5 tracked changes causes AOO to crash.

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=128564

          Issue ID: 128564
        Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: More than 5 tracked changes causes AOO to crash.
           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.14
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 10
            Status: CONFIRMED
          Keywords: crash
          Severity: Major
          Priority: P5 (lowest)
         Component: editing
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: knmc@apache.org
  Target Milestone: ---

When using track changes, if there are more than 5 changes in the accept or
reject
window, the program crashes either immediately or after 1 or2 successful
accept/reject clicks. I have set this as major as it really slows down the
review process for the User Guides.

--- Comment #10 from Keith N. McKenna <kn...@apache.org> ---
Raising importance as this seriously impacts the documentation teams ability to
do its work. The workaround of using Safe Mode is only a stopgap measure that
adds unnecessary time to an already time-consuming process.

Confirmed via Comment 9.

@Matthias, All you have to do is to select a change in the Accept/Reject window
and if it is going to happen it will happen. I have also recently tested it on
a new Windows 11 laptop and I get the same result.

As I already wrote, I can accept/reject all changes without any crash.
Not reproducible for me...

I just tried the document posted by Keith in comment #6 on 2023-04-29. I
reported on 2023-05-02 that I did get a crash with that document. Today, I do
not get a crash with it. My system has gotten 5 updates since I last tested the
document. Since I never got crashes in Safe Mode, I assume the problem is
caused by some driver.
For completeness of evidence, I'll mention that I first tried the document
using the Spanish (Spain) UI, locale and default language. When that did not
crash, I switched to English (US) and still did not get a crash.

I understand that you cannot reproduce it Matthias, but I have reproduced it on
2 different systems, and Francis has also reproduced it. That Is why I set it
as confirmed

No problem with that!

But there must be a difference, because Czesław and I cannot reproduce it.

Maybe it is a problem with en-US only?

Yes, that file does contain a lot of changes!

"Unfortunately" I cannot replicate a crash.
I accepted every single change after the other without problem.

This is not a duplicate of issue 128356. That issue reports a particular
saxparse error. This reports no error whatsoever, but simply crashes.

The document crashes for me if I accept one change. I'm am using Windows 10. I
tried it twice with the same result. However, it does not crash if I boot in
Safe Mode. I was then able to accept all of the changes.

Possibly irrelevant - This is similar to behavior I see with macros. OpenOffice
crashes if I try to make a macro inside of a Calc or Writer document. As soon
as I try to make a new module, the program crashes. In Safe Mode, it works.

Can you describe exactly, what you do when you get a crash?

I am still not able to reproduce it...
That said, I also would not be able to fix the problem.
