Goals:
- provide a more flexible architecture for implementing
   important features, like keeps
- improve performance and reduce memory usage (maybe
   adjustable, as there are tradeoffs)
- improve standard conformance in general

A bit more context would it make easier to give an
answer. Also, stating your original problem rather
than the derived problem yuo got stuck with would
allow you to solve it, rather than having you ask
again.

Truncating Text

hi all-
is there any way to truncate a string if its length is too long?    ie
truncate a string if it is greater than 1 line....
