I realise that this is not in any sense a high-priority thing,
so to a good first approximation I don't mind how long it
waits before getting a yea or nay. I'm just trying to avoid
having it fall through the cracks.

Yup, understood.

Sorry for the delay, Gareth.  It's archived in the pending patches
list (I mean the one we keep privately in the Chicago office -- other
developers probably also have their own lists).  As you can see from
the log message on revision 3271, we're experiencing "weather" right
now, and things have slowed down a bit.  But your patch has not fallen
through the cracks.  It's just delayed by about the same amount as
everything else, that's all.
