problems with editors

Hello community,

I have a bunch of problems with the different editors offered with
Lenya. I'm not sure if I have to configure some important settings or
the editors are not what they should be. ;-)
I know a lot of problems are related to the editors itself, but on the
other hand they are an important part and a figurehead (Aushängeschild)
for Lenya.

What editor are you currently using best?

BXE: Works far at best, even with source code editing, but this is not
acceptable for end users. But how can I extend the accepted tag libray?
Bxe claims then: hr(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml) is not allowed as
child of body(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml)

Xopus: Crashes if my whole Mozilla 1.6, if I just try to visit the demo
site. Sigh...

Kupu (1.0.3): If I'm editing a special language version it always steps
back to the main language in the authoring if I have saved and exited
out of Kupu. This is a bit annoying. Horizontal rules are not working
for me.

(One) Form editor: If I press the "Save" or "Cancel" button only a blank
page appears. Despite of that it is quite difficult to edit a correct
page. It always claims about a missing element and the error messages
are not very helpful. (Ok. I have to confess I'm not very familar with
all the XML tags, but even the "RELAX NG" error message are not very
helpful.)

So far so...
Greetings
Thomas

Thanks for your sugesstions. I have found the settings in
"config/doctypes/schemas/xhtml.rng" and changed the statement "<include
href="xhtml/xhtml-basic.rng">" to "<include href="xhtml/xhtml-strict.rng">"

Why?

AFAIK there is no such thing as an "accepted tag library" ...
It should accept the tags as you define them in your schema.

I guess you can't blame this on BXE, could it be a mistake
in the schema?

Xopus is IE only.

some patches (such as CIFS) are incomplete (no mock classes), others are
too invasive this late in the 1.2 game (build system?)

but yeah. lets ship the sucker. the only "blocker" is the binary target
which fails to use jetty.

not really. I guess it just happened. The same is true for all the 4 or 5
"different" refresh/redirect sreens.

Well, I guess I will fix it, because I am annoyed by the bug ;-)

do you remember the reason for the client-side redirects? (as opposed to
proper server-side ones)

agreed, but this refresh/redirect bug is really annoying :-(

and cofusing for Mozilla users ...

I would suggest to add it for 1.2, because I think it's important that
the end user doesn't get confused by something like that

WDYT?

This is one of the 62 bugs whose resolution is currently scheduled for 1.4 not
for 1.2 and it only has a "severity" level of "normal".

That absolutely does not imply that no patches should be created to resolve
these bugs, but I again would like to stress that the release of 1.2 is overdue
since many months and that there are a few bugs for which patches exist which
have not yet been applied.

Short tip. I have reactivated the commented out link:

Redirect to: <a href="{$uri}"><xsl:value-of select="$uri"/></a>

in redirect-to.xsl and the other redirect pages. ;-)

See my suggestions on the lenya-dev list (Bugzilla comment). This seems
to be a bug in Mozilla itself.

Sorry I can't remember, I would have posted if I had known. I'm sure I

how did it get lost?

For somewhat reason the <title> tag was lost in one of the documents and
the error message was: RELAX NG Validation failed:
/opt/tomcat/temp/OneformEditor32414.tmp:22:10: error: unfinished element

Now with the title within I can edit the page with the forms as well.
But the empty page problem remains of course.

I think this is a problem of the redirect screen (Mozilla and refresh),
whereas
I think a bug entry already exists for that

seems to be a problem that the data can't validated re the RNG.

Where exactly do you get these validation errors?

Thanks

You have to adjust the RelaxNG Schema for your doctype.

Xopus only works on IE/Win. There were some versions floating around,
which also worked on Mozilla, but that developement was abandoned before
any real releases were made, IIRC.
