[jira] [Comment Edited] (COR-21) Extracting Externals Problems on Shared Drives

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COR-21?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14272140#comment-14272140 ]

Dennis E. Hamilton edited comment on COR-21 at 1/10/15 12:25 AM:
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The fourth attachment (listed first above) is running the script on network drive Z:.

Notice that the extraction procedure stalled in the final extraction, of zlib128-dll.zip, at 92% complete. Shortly thereafter the guest OS took a hard crash and the VM image of the guest is corrupted.

So whatever happened, the result is awful. (I will have to rebuild the guest to do any more with this one.)

> Peter reported failures of the extract_downloads script when operating on a share from within a Windows 7 VMware Guest.
> A similar problem has been replicated with a Windows 10 Guest on Hyper-V.
> It smells like some sort of race condition.
> Some use on shared drives work, others fail.
