The group coordinator can only keep track of a single JoinGroup and SyncGroup request future per member. When a member retries a blocking JoinGroup or SyncGroup request, the previous future is discarded and replaced, leaving the previous request unanswered.

This can be a problem when there are proxies in between the client and broker which wait for the response regardless of whether clients have disconnected.
