This sounds like a JDK bug. Did you check out the developer connection? 

Anyway, I agree a FAQ entry may be nice. Could you write one up? If you like you
could submit a patch to Ant's documentation. Alternatively if you do not have
CVS access, you can send me the blurb and I shall try to add it.
