When i insert a new member variable into my imported class cocoon can't see it. WHY?

Hi all,
 I suffer from a strange problem in cocoon. I'm using my own class files which are included in the xsp page but when i modify
one of classes say by example, inserting a new member variable into one of my included class file and recompiling the java source
of this class and inserting the up to date class file in TOMCAT_HOME/lib/classes directory, cocoon generates an error message
that the (new) referenced variable not found in the target class. WHY ?

any recommendations will be appreciated .
