Good point. This property also applies if %NL; was to be used in say, dfdl:nilValue, so isn't strictly about delimiters.

It's just that %NL; is very common in delimiters (especially terminator and separator), and rare (I've never seen it) in dfdl:nilValue.

Would it be better if outputNewLine was in the general properties section along with encoding and byteOrder etc.?
