Summary: apache as a windows service fails to start dependent
services
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.0.55
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows 2000
Status: NEW
Severity: blocker
Priority: P1
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: franklinm@netscout.com
Our product is moving from 1.3.33 to 2.0.55 and I was disturbed to find that the
-W <servicename> option was removed. Reading further, I found how to add a
dependent service in the Windows registry to the Apache service I had installed.
Basically, I used regedt32 to add my other service (tomcat) to the
DependOnService key under the HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NSApache
registry key. (I named my service NSApache with the -n switch at the time of
service installation.)
Looking at the services control panel, all looks correct. However, when I start
the NSApache service, my tomcat service is NOT starting. Having this dependency
work properly is critical to our product functionality. Everything worked fine
when we set up this dependency using Apache 1.3.33.
