'switch --relocate' troubles

I changed my repository from:

http://svn.serent.net/svn/oldproject/trunk

http://svn.serent.net/svn/newproject/trunk

But, I'm having trouble with the "switch --relocate". I get this:

$ svn switch --relocate http://svn.serent.net/svn/newproject/trunk
. # with a dot on the end.
svn: Working copy 'tools' not locked

I can't figure out what tools is. I don't have such a file or
directory in my current working image.

Same here. However, it's a bit different: I moved three working copies and
their repositories to a different machine (but all of them running
Debian/testing) and could switch/relocate one of them. The second working
copy failed to relocate, saying
svn: Working copy 'in_repo1/dir' not locked

1.0.9 here.

Thanks. That was my first attempt, but I get the same error.

I'm running "svn, version 1.1.1 (r11581)" on both the server or client.

I did a fresh checkout to get around this. I thought it would be slick
to to try this command.

Well, you should cd to your working copy, and then

svn switch --relocate http://svn.serent.net/svn/oldproject
http://svn.serent.net/svn/newproject

...that should do it.

I have made this mistake myself. It seems the FROM parameter is obvious,
but the TO parameter is easily overlooked as a quick scan reads "FROM to
PATH". The help syntax is correct, just easily mis-read.

Perhaps change the help to be:
...
2. switch --relocate FROM_URL TO_URL [PATH...]

Your usage requires two URLs:

switch (sw): Update the working copy to a different URL.
usage: 1. switch URL [PATH]
       2. switch --relocate FROM TO [PATH...]

So you need to put in whatever the current URL of your working copy is
(use svn info if you don't have the exact URL).

As to the error about 'tools', I'm guessing that it's an error message
that has changed in different versions of SVN. In v1.1.1 and v1.1.2,
svn just quietly does nothing if I replicate your command.
