Building J2EE Tutorial Converter files GPF'ed when on Win ME

When trying to work through the J2EE Tutorial it has one use ant to complile 
the source files.  I when I enter the command "ant converter"  it GPF'ed.  I 
went through the section on the ant website to try and get a listing of what 
ant was doing.  I first ran with "ant -v converter", it GPF'ed when it was 
loading myvar.  I next tried it with "ant -debug converter", it worked!  
Something with the debug switched caused it to work.  I'm using Windows ME.
