[Issue 125422] New: Selection of cells moves cursor and requires too
much extra work in pasting
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=125422
Issue ID: 125422
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Selection of cells moves cursor and requires too much
extra work in pasting
Product: Writer
Version: 4.1.0
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows XP
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: editing
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: prasadnews@gmail.com
Using a keyboard, when you select adjacent cells in a table in Writer or
Impress or Calc, during selection the cursor position also moves. The cursor
should not move during selection. The result is this: If I try to paste
contents of 5 cells to a row immediately below, during selection the cursor
moves 5 cells right. So, before pasting I need to move cursor left by 5 cells
again.
Instead, during selection the cursor should not move. After copying the
content, user should be able to move the cursor just one cell down and paste
the content or wherever user wants.
When compared with MS-Office, it is too much extra work for a simple task. In
fact, when you have large number of cells, it is virtually impossible to paste
contents at correct location.
