Rss support

Hi all,

Can I create/delete/edit blogs by using Rss feeds?

Regards,
Maxim

Yep, it seems it is something I need.
Thank you.

Are there some implementations of this proposal?
Can you provide me some examples of how to use it?

Regards,
Maxim

Hi Maxim,

Could you explain this a little bit further? Do you mean a REST api
for blog management like the one proposed by Jeff [1] ?

Download Blogapps examples from http://blogapps.dev.java.net.

Take a look at the Chapter 2 example (Java or C#) for an example of
simple MetaWeblog API usage.

There's a complete MetaWeblog client lib in the Chapter 8 example.

You're correct. I had the Atom endpoints exposed in the Blogger HTML
pages in mind - no blog management here.

You can use the XML-RPC based Blogger and MetaWeblog APIs in Roller
to create, modify, delete and add new entries to blogs. Roller
supports both APIs and the end-point is /xmlrpc (For example: http://
localhost:8080/roller/xmlrpc).

Can I use xml-rpc to manage blogs?

create/modify/delete/add new entry ?

Well, I believe that blogger.com let's you create/update/delete blog
entries, but not blogs. I may be wrong.

Atom does, since it's general purpose and not just for syndication.
Since the Roller atom admin support was just proposed, if you want to
try something that works right now, I suggest using blogger.com as a
target.

Hi,

I am just a little bit new to Bloggers, etc.

I am just wonder if there is some API or tools on the base of Rss to
create/modify/delete blogs.

I need to create a client application to interact with Roller remotely.

Should I use xml-rpc?
Or Can I also use Rss feeds?

Maxim

No. The Atom protocol is not complete and is not yet supported in
Roller. Once the Atom protocol working group finishes the Atom
protocol specification (and I have no idea when that will be), we'll
support it in Roller.

Hi all,

Is there some replacement of org.roller.presentation.atomapi in current
version?

Could I post blog entry using org.roller.presentation.atomapi ?

Maxim

Re: Java Blog servers + Rss

Posted by Anil Gangolli <an...@busybuddha.org>.
RSS is a format specification. RSS feeds support reading, not posting
or administration..

Roller currently supports Blogger and MetaWeblog APIs for posting to
existing weblogs.
Support for Atom Publishing Protocol is on the way, and coming soon I
think. (Dave?)

There isn't an administrative API to Roller. The use of the still
incomplete Atom Admin has been suggested.

I don't know of any blog servers that support management APIs, but there
may be some. Several support publishing APIs.

Hope this helps,
--a.

I am not aware of any, but I hope that someday all blog servers will
support management via Atom protocol.
