In Jetspeed 1.3a2, the layout is done with templates. The majority of the
templates in Jetspeed are now Velocity templates.
The other choice for templates is JSP.
Its basic MVC not to use ECS.
See Jon Steven's article in JDJ July 2001 (vol.6,issue.7) for a good intro
to Velocity and its advantages over JSP.
Cocoon plays no role in Jetspeed.

You wrote "dated" about the use of ECS. Can you tell me what's used actually
for that purpose and something about the role Cocoon plays in Jetspeed ?
Is the CocoonPortlet the only thing which uses Cocoon at this time ?
FYI: I'm analyzing Jetspeed for my degree-dissertation ;-)

No problem. It is kind of hard to miss considering it is right on their home
page! :)

Good article - although it now seems a little dated to see all that ecs :)
I like the way he demonstrated WAP and SOAP.
I will add a link to the article on the Jetspeed site, Thanks for pointing
that one out!
