+1 on the suggested 6-week cycle - we can always adjust later if it's
either too slow or too fast for us to keep up with.
As regards 1.7.0, I'd rather first get an idea of what's on the
wishlist before talking about dates. I fully agree with the need to
put a date "out there" to help focus the discussion, but I'd rather
get a first draft of what's even on the table, and a rough estimate of
how much work is involved, before starting to "slice and dice" and
come up with a tentative release date.
That said, I agree that sooner rather than later would be good, unless
we feel there's significant chunks of functionality currently still
missing.
Thoughts on how best to canvas opinions? We have a list of open JIRA
tickets already - how about an email to user@ and dev@?
