[RELEASE] feedback on download page preparation

Hi,

I had a look at http://ooo-site.staging.apache.org/download-NEXT2/

Here is my feedback:
- most download links for version '4.1.1' look good

- choosing platform 'OS X 32-bit (x86) (DMG)', any language and version
'4.1.1' provides download links instead of message that 4.1.1 is not
available for this platform.

- if language Catalan, Catalan [Valencia AVL] or Catalan [Valencia RACV]
are choosen for version '4.1.1' meaning full download links are
provided. When switching the platform the download links are changing
accordingly. But when switching the version the download links are not
changing. As we had no installation sets for these languages available
for version before coming '4.1.1' a corresponding message should be
shown - like it is happening for language Bulgarian for versions before
'4.1.0'

- language Arabic is missing. We have installation sets for versions
3.4.0 and 3.4.1. Arabic is already missing on our current download page

Best regards, Oliver.

This is not critical from my point of view. Thanks for taking care.

It's looks like this site is ALMOST functioning but not quite. :/

We've changed the download functions quite a bit over the last few months
and because of this, some sites are not functioning in spite of efforts to
fid them all.

Please see the readme.txt in this area --

 http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/xx/

"xx" is the template area, but you cna probably get enough information from
this to fix your site. If not, please come back to "dev" for help.

I see this is now rather OK. It suffered from the same problem other
pages had when we released 4.1.1 (wrong language selection, wrong
version) so I committed a fix for that.

Also note that you will have to specify a recommended language for
download: I specified "sr", which means Serbian Cyrillic, as we don't
have Serbian Latin available; but if you prefer to have English as
default we can use that.

See
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/sr-latn/download/msg_prop_l10n_sh.js?r1=1620724&r2=1620723&pathrev=1620724
for the changes and just fix it yourself in case.

Regards,
   Andrea.

Thanks. In the meantime, while volunteers translate msg_prop_l10n_sh.js
to sr-latn, I've applied the quick workaround so that at least a
download link is shown.

   Andrea.

As I know, the download page is Javascript generated, I made a copy of
english page to that directory.

Just translate (again) file msg_prop_l10n_sh.js and then it will be
functional I think. Then rename index_new.html to index.html.

This is really bad indeed. The green download area is completely
missing. It happened back in June on several localized sites. Marcus
fixed it site-wide, but for a quick easy fix you should apply this patch
(this is for the Italian site but will work for sr-latn too):

http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/ooo-site/trunk/content/it/download/index.html?r1=1601211&r2=1601210&pathrev=1601211

Let us know if you need further help. Of course the page cannot stay as
it is now.

Regards,
   Andrea.

Hello,

this solution is better than what we have now.
