upgrading from 6 to current on Karaf

hello all,

I'm in the process of upgrading from 6 to current on Karaf using a custom 
features file for provisioning. After startup the JCR misses important 
entries, e.g. var, apps and the sling-test and other sling files.

This happens also with the features file from launchpad (trunk) - which misses 
the bundle org.apache.sling.launchpad.api btw.

I can see the installer doing stuff in the debug log, but don't know what 
fails (no errors). Any ideas?
