Apache 2 and MPL 1.1 Compatibility

Hi,

I am planning to use RabbitMQ (MPL 1.1) [1] with Apache Airavata for my
GSoC project. Apparently MPL 1.1 is reciprocal [2] but I need to make sure.

Please advise.

Legal advice is not necessary. There is an ASF policy with regard to MPL 1.1 code in ASF releases,
<http://apache.org/legal/resolved.html#category-b>.

Short Version: MPL 1.1 source code is not permitted in ASF releases. Binary dependencies are possible (and the source must be available somewhere else upstream to satisfy the license on the binary).

It doesn't sound like there is an exception situation here.

Hi Daniel,

Thats right this integration is offered part of a GSoC project [3] and we intend to incorporate the contributions into Airavata code base if license is compatible.

Thanks,
Suresh

Fwd: Apache 2 and MPL 1.1 Compatibility

So basically if we have a section for 3rd party libraries in the product
(Airavata) documentation where we just mention a link to MPL 1.1 product's
homepage would do?. I am not quite sure what "prominent label" means.

Thanks,
Danushka

It wasn't clear from your question.

The ASF does not offer legal advice to the public. Does your situation
involve writing code that will end up in https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/airavata/ ?
