The log has indicated you were running the wrong distribution.  Apache
Kylin has distribution for HBase 1.x and CDH. In your case, please use CDH
distribution.

Kylin does support running over VM. The problem you met might be caused by wrong distribution of Kylin.
Please ensure you chose the CDH version of Kylin. http://kylin.apache.org/download/

If you still met such issue when using correct distribution, then it should be a compatibility issue. Thanks.
