List traffic

Guys,

I'm feeling that theres way too much traffic on this list. Becomes a
bit difficult to handle. Any plans on splitting the Dev, JIRA, GUMP
and support lists?

Regards,
Vinod.

It was a joke ! If [gump], I move it to a Gump sub-folders ... and every
week, I dump it!

Not 100% fool-proof. Eg: the entire thread on GUMP discussion got
moved to my trash :(

Does your mail client allow the definition of filters? This is what I
do : if [jira] appears in the subject, it is moved to another folder by
the filter manager. It works great, because JIRA always add [jira] in
the subject.

Same thing for Gump, but I move them directly to trash bin ;-]

Hope it helps !

My basic issue were the jira and gump mails on the dev list, which
made me stress my eyes trying to pick out the non-automated mails :)

didnt know abt that.

anyways, i'm looking at it from the perspective of a person who is
interacting with the developers on tech issues... so in that case, i'm
already biased.

Vinod.

This is unlikely. dev lists are high traffic by nature, so the whole
team can keep well informed.

I would suggest the only possible split would be to not send commit
mails to dev and have to subscribe separately - but that is very unusual.

do you mean users@directory.apache.org?
