running Apache on Windows 2000 as opposed to linux?

[Jay Hulslander <jd...@cornell.edu>]

After speaking with a few people about running the Apache web-server on
Windows, I got the impression that this approach may not be the best
approach. I was told that Apache view's the Windows releases to be less
functional as a linux/unix release. What is Apache's official opinion of
running Apache on a Win box as opposed to a Linux box? I am looking for
server side Java application web server environments.

Thanks,
	Jay
