Velocity memory usage (extreme)
hi there,
I am using velocity for some months and it is my favourite tool working with
web applications.
now i have a problem merging a template with a collection contained in a
context,
the collection contains about 150 objects - not that big. if i call
template.merge()
the used memory increases about 48megs !!!!
has anybody a tip what could be the problem?

the applications runs under j2sdk 1.4.2_03 no a win2000 server machine (all
servicepacks)
I am rendering about 150 velocity-data objects which is a self-written class
consisting
of hashmaps containing attributes, values and meta-data for rendering.
the increase of 48M memory usage is the difference between
Runtime.freememory() and
Runtime.usedmemory() - abuot 48 000 000 as number ( i guess ist 48 megabytes
)

Velocity will be doing a bit of work when you render, caching
information about the objects when you merged the template. What OS
and what number are you reporting as 48M, and in what environment?
