AW: Turbine Book [to be released]
It is true that the lack of a clear direction is a severe problem with
Turbine. However I think a book would be great that explains the various
components and architectural ideas behind Turbine and how to build an app
from that so that it fits the individual requirements.
There is a book in German scheduled to be released in december called
"Portale und Web-Applikationen mit Apache Frameworks".
It covers the following [Excerpt from the editor]:
Verschiedene Frameworks der Apache Software Foundation bieten Entwicklern
von Web-Anwendungen ein au?erst nutzliches Gerust fur ihre Projekte. Dabei
basieren die Frameworks Turbine, Jetspeed, Cocoon auf den Standards Java und
XML und lassen sich daher an beliebiger Stelle erweitern. Das Buch "Portale
und Web- Applikationen mit Apache Frameworks" bietet einen fundierten,
praxisnahen Uberblick uber Tomcat, Turbine, Jetspeed und Cocoon. Au?erdem
werden die Prinzipien der Web-Entwicklung anhand des Model-View-Controller
(MVC)-Paradigmas verstandlich erlautert. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt stellt
die Entwicklung von Enterprise-Portalen dar - hier werden die wichtigsten
Grundbegriffe moderner Portal- Konzepte dargestellt. Anhand der Frameworks
Jetspeed und Cocoon wird die Portal-Entwicklung im Detail beleuchtet und
eine ausfuhrliche Beispiel-Applikation (Portal-Anwendung mit elektronischen
Auktionen) auf Jetspeed-Basis liefert den unverzichtbaren Praxisbezug.
