Tagging and Sticky

Does anyone know if when running maven scm:prepare-release by default
the tag is made sticky??? If so, is there a way to have the plugin not
make the tag sticky.

no, it doesn't. It does a cvs tag, but no cvs update -r

The name is certainly misleading when used outside of perform-release
