## Questions
1. Is it possible to keep using the 'file' scheme (the behavior in 7.1.1) on cordova-ios 8.x so that existing localStorage / IndexedDB data remains accessible?
2. If not, what is the recommended way to migrate existing localStorage / IndexedDB data?
## Background
I have an existing iOS app built with cordova-ios 7.1.1 that stores data in localStorage and IndexedDB. After upgrading to cordova-ios 8.1.1 without changing config.xml, the page origin changed (see the table below), so the web storage from the previous app version is no longer accessible.

- There is no `scheme` or `hostname` preference in my project's `config.xml` nor `platforms/ios/App/config.xml`.
- The [6.0.0 release notes](https://cordova.apache.org/announcements/2020/06/01/cordova-ios-release-6.0.0.html) mention "default to file scheme" (GH-866), which matches what I saw with 7.1.1.
- I could not find a note about changing this default in the 8.0.0 release notes.
- The [config.xml reference](https://cordova.apache.org/docs/en/latest/config_ref/index.html) says the iOS `scheme` default is not defined and falls back to `app` if the value is invalid.
## Environment
- cordova: 13.0.0
- cordova-ios: 7.1.1 -> 8.1.1
- Xcode: 26.6
- iOS: 26.0, 18.5
