Hi,

Suddenly all our users are in the timezone GMT-12 and I lost my Admin previleges to delete Pages. Does anything happened to the userdatabase.xml durign the update?

It got screwed up in some way...

i'm exactly in the same situation, just had a look at the code ...
- if I look at the select generated in prefs I see:

  <select id='prefTimeZone' name='prefTimeZone'>
      <option value='GMT-12' >(GMT-12) Enitwetok, Kwajalien </option>
....
      <option value='GMT-1' >(GMT-1) Azores, Cape Verde Islands </option>
<option value='GMT' >(GMT) Casablanca, Dublin, Edinburgh, London, Lisbon, Monrovia </option>
<option value='Europe/Berlin' >(GMT+1) Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Madrid, Paris, Rome [SERVER]</option>
<option value='GMT+2' >(GMT+2) Helsinki, Athens, Kaliningrad, South Africa, Warsaw </option>
...
      <option value='GMT+12' >(GMT+12) Auckland, Wellington, Fiji, Marshall Island </option>
  </select>

Looks like the IDs , which comes from TemplateManager.listTimeZones ,
gets out of sync on the default one. I have no time now to investigate more
but I strongly suspect there is something wrong in
TemplateManager.listTimeZones.
I'll let you know if I manage to go inside ...

But that'll work only if you're using our UserDatabase.

IMO we should have a separate databases for user preferences and user authentication. The first one is just a key-value store, and user-extensible, and the latter is our current auth db. This allows you to use LDAP and still benefit from local settings.

Nicola's got a point, though. The user's timezone could be easily
persisted as a UserProfile attribute.... and it probably should be.

The timezone setting is part of a user-preference cookie.
But this cookie is not preserved (format is incompatible) when upgrading
between major versions.

Hallo,

I fixed the jspwiki.policy and I can delete pages now.

But der timezone issue ist still present. It says, the timezone is now a attribute of the user. Shouldn´t it be in the userdatabase.xml?

Nicola

Nicola,
from 2.6 => 2.8 there are quite a few changes dealing with preferences, timezone, JAAS and also the userdatabase format, one of these might have to do with your observations, look at the following in Changelog :

2.7.0-svn-29
2.7.0-svn-16
2.7.0-svn-9
2.7.0-svn-4
2.7.0-svn-2

I haven't checked the code though.
Also have a look at the UPGRADING document, and more the standard checks that might have already been done:
- check your new jspwiki.policy
- have a look at the admin/SecurityConfig.jsp

I can imagine that we get unpredictable results if you access a 2.8 wiki with 2.6 cookies, does it help refreshing your browser cookies (so you get freshcookies :-)) ?
