The support for long option names in CLI1 is admittedly ropey but is there and
is much improved in CLI2.  I don't think the documentation claims that Ant uses
CLI, just that Ant's options could be modelled, its just an example.

XML based modelling has been suggested elsewhere and will probably be
implemented in 2.1, please come to commons-dev to discuss your thoughts and
requirements (prefix threads with [cli]).
