Mod_SecurID & Apache 1.3.26

I need to switch a web site from using basic authentication to using
RSA SecurID Tokens. The RSA ACE/Server is already up and running and
being used for other purposed.

The steps I followed are: 
  Installed the ACE client on the Linux box.
  Define the apache server as a Host on the ACE server.
  Copied over the sdconf.rec file
  compiled and dynamically loaded the Mod_securId module.

I tried switching over the authtype and restarting apache, but I still
couldn't get to index.html page. Is there something else I need to do?
Can use the same index.html page? 

Does anyone have any experience with mod_securid?
