I think there's a misunderstanding regarding issue 1.
By "last edit position" I didn't mean the end of the text, but the last position you were editing before switching to the preview page. When returning from preview to edit, it would be nice to find the cursor at the position it was before.

I suggest to close the issue.
With the introduction of Sneak-Preview and Section-Edit the need to be able to jump back to the 'last' cursor position is IMHO less critical.

These are 2 issues:
1) cursor at pos1 when opening the screen
We are using the standard browser behaviour when putting the focus on a textarea element.
I noticed that this behaviour is different between Safari (cursor at pos1) or Firefox (cursor at end-pos)
I wonder if we should change that.
2) formatting buttons apparently do not set back a proper cursor in the textarea.
There is a bug in the javascript. Normal behaviour should be that the formatted text is selected (highlighted) after pressing the formatting buttons.
I need to fix that.
