ftpserver - running it?

Hi,

I am trying to compile and run the ftpserver on my
machine. What I have done so far:
- downloaded source from
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/ftpserver/
- Looked for a document that explains how to run it
and I couldn't quite find it
- On my local machine (windows 2000, Jbuilder 9
developer) I got the source to compile
- I ran FtpAdmin gui from within Jbuilder and I get a
Java.net.ConnectException in regards to localhost.
This I suppose makes sense since I'm not running the
ftp server. I've looked around for documentation as
to how to run it and I haven't found it yet.

Can anyone tell me what else I should be reading/doing
to get this to work? (how does phoenix fit in)

El

Hi,
I am sorry for replying late. Running is simple. The
phoenix is bundled in the distribution binary file.
The ftpserver.sar file in the phoenix apps directory.
So you need to execute phoenix run batch file. By
default the ftp server uses properties file based user
manager. You can add/remove/modify users by
ftp-admin.jar file. The default admin user name and
password is admin/admin.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Rana

Nicola,

Thank you for pointing me to the correct list. As a
point of feedback - I had placed my question on the
general list because in the documentation section on
page
http://incubator.apache.org/projects/ftpserver/index.html
I saw:

"Some of the information on this site is currently a
bit out of date. We are working hard to fix this. If
you come across any inconsistencies or have a problem,
please don't hesitate to contact us through the
mailing list. Please use incubator-general mailing
list for this"

Perhaps that page should be corrected.

Its been a somewhat exasperating experience in trying
to figure how ftpserver fits in with Avalon and
Avalon's transformation from "old" stuff to "new"
stuff.
