[jira] Created: (MDEP-141) there should be a way to purge all
snapshots
there should be a way to purge all snapshots
--------------------------------------------
Key: MDEP-141
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MDEP-141
Project: Maven 2.x Dependency Plugin
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: purge-local-repository
Reporter: Dan Fabulich
Assignee: Brian Fox
Occasionally we find that we need to clear out our local repository; seems like nobody ever knows why, but in chatting with people I understand that it's not unheard of. I presume that the evil here is in SNAPSHOT versions present on some people's machines and not others.
It would be nice if there were some way to use purge-local-repository to knock out all SNAPSHOT versions for everything, rather than having to re-download released artifacts as well as SNAPSHOTs.

-----------------------------------
is that really the role of the dependency plugin?
btw, to alleviate this in the future I've proposed this feature: http://docs.codehaus.org/display/MAVEN/Local+repository+separation

Well, I only filed it here because "purge-local-repository" is a goal on this plugin; I never particularly thought it made sense here either, but I do wish it did this additional extra thing. :-)
