What's the use of XSP and FP versus a good old servlet program ?

Can anyone tell me if there's a big advantage in using the XSP/FP rather
than a good old servlet in order to modify an XML file with the DOM and
format it again with a XSL file ?
 
All the instructions that you find in XSP or FP can be done as well with the
duo (servlet+DOM).
