mvn <=2.0.8: the behavior reported here, seems to be mvn <=2.0.8 specific,. at least in my environment: 

Maven version: 2.0.7
Java version: 1.5.0_15
OS name: "linux" version: "2.6.24-21-generic" arch: "i386"

With mvn 2.0.9 I cannot reproduce the bug reported here. 

P.S.:  we have to switch now between mvn versions, depending on what ant tasks we use. This is getting ridiculous...
