DO NOT REPLY [Bug 45512] New: Bad Performance of mod_proxy with SSL
on Solaris 10
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=45512
Summary: Bad Performance of mod_proxy with SSL on Solaris 10
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.2.9
Platform: Sun
OS/Version: SunOS
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: mod_proxy
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: mkjordi@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=22335)
--> (https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=22335)
sample configuration for reproducing the problem
within the migration of our reverse proxy from apache 2.0 to apache 2.2 on
solaris 10 we detected a big perfomance difference. with the same configuration
of mod_proxy with ssl between proxy and application server requests need 2 to 3
times longer with apache 2.2 as with apache 2.0. i installed also apache 2.2 on
windows and linux with the same proxy configuration and i could not reproduce
the problem.
it seems to me there is a problem of apache 2.2 mod_proxy with ssl on solaris
10. we reproduced the problem on sparc and amd machines.

i did some tests with static content. the perfomance is good with and without
ssl. the problem only exists if we connect with ssl from the proxy to the
application server.

Do you have the same problem when serving static files via SSL on Solaris 10?

we tried different combinations of openssl and apache, selfcompiled and
distributed by sun. the used versions of openssl are 0.9.8g/h.
i didn't try static content explicit and will do this test on monday.

What version of openssl do you use on Solaris 10? Is it supplied by Sun?
