WYSIWYG web GUI to publish to Jackrabbit or any JSR-170/283 compliant
backend?
Any general purpose GUI/web/Swing application that can interface to
jackrabbit? or any jsr-170 or jsr-283 compliant backend? for publishing?
Looked at Lenya and it appears to have its own, proprietary backend.

Hi there,
Have a look at Magnolia for web content management
(www.magnolia.info). There's a free community edition, as well as the
paid-for version.
