Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: MAVEN-999
Summary: Need maven.ear.src similar to maven.war.src
       Type: New Feature

     Status: Unassigned
   Priority: Minor

 Time Spent: Unknown
  Remaining: Unknown

    Project: maven
 Components:
             plugin-ear
   Fix Fors:
             1.1
   Versions:
             1.0-rc1

   Assignee:
   Reporter: Janne Kario

Description:
Need for a similar mechanism as in WAR plugin and EJB plugin which allows me to change the location of directory that contains meta information included in the ear (maven.ejb.src in EJB plugin and maven.war.src in WAR plugin). The present properties maven.ear.manifest and maven.ear.appxml allow me to force the location of these two particular files but the plugin still complains about missing ${maven.src.dir}/application directory.
