error starting geronimo 1.1 on unix box

hello,
i'm getting the following trace when trying 
geronimo.sh start on unix system with jdk 1.4.2_14.
the config.xml hasn't been modified.

Booting Geronimo Kernel (in Java 1.4.2_14)...
