h1. Database performance

I've gathered performance statistics against a standard benchmark of 111111 files and directories, run on a specific Dell tower machine with two cores and 4GB RAM. The purpose of these statistics is to help users judge the relative performance characteristics of ManifoldCF on its supported databases. Databases also scale differently for different numbers of processors, etc., so your mileage will vary.

Here are the results (run with Java 1.6 on current trunk as of 8/15/2012):

|| Database || Version || Documents per second || Comments ||
| PostgreSQL | 8.4 + Windows | 40.4 | Fully supported |
| HSQLDB | 2.2.8 + Windows | 18.1 | Fully supported |
| Derby | 10.7.1.1 + Windows | 6.7 | Not recommended for production |
| MySQL | 5.5 + Ubuntu | 27.5 | Experimental; database instance untuned |
