[m2] application documentation - Simple DocBook?

Hi,

I'd like the documentation that I'm producing for my application to be
available in various formats (currently HTML and PDF; the list may
grow).

The options that we're kicking about are Docbook, or writing it with
Word / OpenOffice and saving to different formats. I have a suspicion
that Docbook would be more flexible, but there is obviously an
associated learning curve that we'd need to take a hit on.

Does anyone have any stories to share about use of Docbook with
Maven2? What I've found thus far seems Maven1-related, out-of-date or
incomplete; e.g. the Mergere book mentions Simple Docbook, but doesn't
go into any depth.
