ServerNotRunningException

Newbie question. My colleague has set up a Cloudera cluster and I am
trying to access it remotely from Java, as follows:

		Configuration config = HBaseConfiguration.create();
		config.set("hbase.zookeeper.quorum", "some.domain.com");
		config.set("hbase.zookeeper.property.clientPort","2181");
		HBaseAdmin.checkHBaseAvailable(config);

Although the web admin shows the HBase master as running and healthy,
I get the following error:

12/06/22 08:53:40 INFO zookeeper.ClientCnxn: Session establishment
complete on <redacted>, sessionid = 0x137b3ddb56c0019, negotiated
timeout = 40000
12/06/22 08:53:41 INFO
client.HConnectionManager$HConnectionImplementation: getMaster attempt
0 of 1 failed; no more retrying.
org.apache.hadoop.ipc.RemoteException:
org.apache.hadoop.hbase.ipc.ServerNotRunningException: Server is not
running yet

Any ideas? Is there some additional step to enable remote access in Cloudera?

Thanks.

Add the remote ip and the domain name(the pc id where you are trying to
connect) in your hosts file and then try.....

For sure there's nothing in the master's log?

Also if you want Cloudera-specific help, I recommend that you contact
their mailing list: http://www.cloudera.com/community/
